Sylvia was born in Germany, where she received a degree in Clinical Psychology atLudwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. Her journey with meditation began over 20 years ago when she was inspired by her Japanese Tai Chi teacher, whom she studied and practiced with for more than twelve years. In 2014 Sylvia started one of the largest Mindful Meditation Meetup Groups, inspiring over 2000 members in San Jose, CA. In 2015 she received her certification as a Mindfulness-Based-Stress-Reduction (MBSR) teacher from the Jon Kabat-Zinn program at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In addition to leading corporate mindfulness and stress reduction programs, she offered yoga and senior fitness classes at the Central YMCAand at24 Hour Fitness. Sylvia started her yoga practice in 2005 and began teaching yoga in 2018. She received her Yoga teacher Certificates (RYT200 and RTY300) at Breathe Together in Los Gatos. Besides continually expanding her knowledge of meditation techniques, yoga, and fitness, Sylvia is also involved in volunteer work and fundraising.Sylvia loves being in nature, capturing special moments with photography, which is among her personal ways of being mindful.
