Sylvia was born in Germany, where she received her Master's Degree in Psychology atLudwig-Maximilians-University in Munichand trained as a marriage and family therapist (MFT). After about 10 years of Tai Chi practice, she started teaching this meditative movement training to several students. Later, she moved to England and lives in California now. She has successfully completed 200 hours of training through the Joy of Yoga Program and is a Certified Yoga teacher (RYT200). In 2018 she began her 500 hour teacher training at Breathe Together in Los Gatos. She teaches Yoga at the Central YMCAand both Yoga and Silver Sneakers (a fitness program for Seniors 65+) at24 Hour Fitness. Sylvia's journey with meditation began over 20 years ago. She has completed several professional training programs in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with teachers including Jon Kabat-Zinn, S. Santorelli and B. Stahl (Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical School). In 2014 Sylvia started one of the largest Mindful Meditation Meetup Groups, inspiring over 2000 members in San Jose, CA. Besides continually expanding her knowledge of meditation techniques, yoga, and fitness, Sylvia is also involved in volunteer work at Cancer Care Point in San Jose and fundraising atPose 4 a Purpose. Sylvia loves being in nature, capturing special moments with photography, which is among her personal ways of being mindful.
